Irvine – the big picture
The people of Irvine will get a potential glimpse of the big picture when a special demonstration takes place in the town centre this week.
On Tuesday 21st May, 11am – 5 pm Irvine Bay TV will be demonstrated outside ASDA at the Rivergate Shopping Centre. Irvine Bay Regeneration company and North Ayrshire Council are working together to bring a big public screen to the regenerated Bridgegate, and the showing is part of the consultation process.
The proposed screen will provide public entertainment, show films, news, sports and community generated content. There will be opportunity for local businesses and the community to get involved.
Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: “The new public space at Bridgegate creates an ideal space for the screen and public events. It is hoped that the installation of a screen will be later this year to coincide with the reopening of the new Bridgegate area.
“As part of the regeneration of Irvine town centre we want to create a real sense of place; an events space; a reason for people to gather for the economic benefit of the town centre – a real community asset. I would urge local people to come along and see for themselves what the Irvine big screen might look like.”
