Plan for Saltcoats - public get their say
Local people in Saltcoats can have their say on new work planned to create a high quality public space in the town centre.
Irvine Bay and North Ayrshire Council are working in partnership to deliver renewed and revitalised public realm in Countess Street, Saltcoats.
A public consultation open day takes place on Tuesday 3rd November at Bar One Function Suite, 53 Vernon treet, Saltcoats KA21 5HN where the general public are asked to drop in any time between 3pm and 7.30pm.
The aim of the regeneration project is to create new improved public areas with high quality paving, seating and lighting.
The redevelopment is expected to encourage people to visit and boost the economy of Saltcoats.
Countess Street is home to the Town Hall which is currently undergoing a £3.7m redevelopment, creating a new community and civic hub.
Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay, said: “The regeneration of Countess Street will complement the Town Hall project, creating an attractive setting for events such as weddings to be held in the Town Hall.
“Construction work will begin in spring 2016 and is due to be completed before Christmas 2016. Care will be taken throughout the redevelopment works to minimise disruption to local businesses and the functioning of the new Town Hall as a wedding and events venue.”
