Living in North Ayrshire

Irvine Bay offers a stunning coastal location with great transport connections to Glasgow and beyond.

Transformed town centres

Major award-winning projects have already been completed in town centres, including the regeneration of Kilwinning Main Street and the refurbishment the Bridgegate area of Irvine. Other developments are planned by 2017.

Great connections

Excellent transport connections mean short travel times to Glasgow, making this popular commuter territory. Transport links are one of Irvine Bay's great strengths, with historic investment providing a comprehensive road infrastructure. An excellent train service provides regular direct services to Glasgow city centre and Glasgow Prestwick International Airport from all five towns.

High quality education

The provision of high quality primary, secondary and further education is essential for the regeneration of Irvine Bay. Each of the towns in the area offers primary and secondary education, with further education available at James Watt College which established its successful Kilwinning campus in 2003. Glasgow's unversities and colleges are within easy commuting distance.

Stunning coastline

The coast is the focus for a wide range of leisure activities, including some of Scotland's best golf and sailing opportunities. Projects on the coast include a new golf development,  The Ayrshire,  a new coastal village at Irvine Harbour and a major development at Ardrossan North Shore
